1. About us

We provide online GCSE tuition through live lessons, recordings, learning resources, homework, quizzes and assessments.

These Terms apply to Syllara Academy's online courses. Separate arrangements may apply to school partnerships or other services.
2. Who can enrol
Students under 18 must be enrolled by a parent or legal guardian aged 18 or over.
The parent or guardian is responsible for agreeing to these Terms and making payment on the student's behalf.
3. Enrolment
A paid enrolment begins when:
- the parent or guardian has agreed the chosen plan;
- payment has been received by bank transfer; and
- Syllara Academy confirms the student's enrolment.
The enrolment confirmation will state the student's plan and start date.
4. What is included
Depending on the plan selected, students receive access to:
- live online lessons;
- lesson recordings;
- homework and learning resources;
- quizzes and assessments; and
- the Syllara Academy learning platform.
Live tuition is normally provided once per selected subject during each scheduled teaching week.
The number of teaching weeks may vary depending on the calendar.
Syllara Academy does not guarantee any particular exam grade or academic outcome.
5. Monthly and three-month plans
Payments are made in advance by bank transfer.
Monthly plan
A monthly plan runs for one calendar month from the confirmed start date.
Three-month plan
A three-month plan runs for three calendar months from the confirmed start date.
The full three-month fee is paid upfront.
Continuing
Plans do not renew automatically.
Before the end of a paid block, Syllara Academy will contact the parent or guardian to ask whether they wish to continue.
If they choose to continue, payment for the next monthly or three-month block must be received before that block begins.
If payment arrives after the previous block has ended, the new block begins on the date payment is received.
Access to lessons and the learning platform is paused during any unpaid gap.
6. Changing plans
Parents may request a change to the student's plan.
An upgrade, such as adding another subject, may begin during an existing block if agreed with Syllara Academy. An appropriate additional charge may be calculated for the remainder of that block.
A downgrade normally takes effect from the next paid block.
After the 14-day cancellation period, reducing a plan does not normally entitle the parent to a refund for the existing paid block.
7. Your 14-day cancellation period
Parents or legal guardians have 14 days from the date Syllara Academy confirms enrolment to cancel.
If the student has not attended a lesson or accessed paid course content, the payment will be refunded in full.
By asking us to enrol the student and provide access immediately, the parent or guardian expressly asks Syllara Academy to begin providing services before the 14-day cancellation period has ended.
If the parent cancels within the 14 days after tuition or paid course access has begun, Syllara Academy may deduct a reasonable and proportionate amount for the services already provided and refund the remaining balance.
This may include tuition already delivered and course services or content already meaningfully accessed.
To cancel, contact us by:
Email: hello@syllaraacademy.co.uk
WhatsApp: 07547 610179
Cancellation takes effect on the date we receive the request. The student's access ends on that date.
We will confirm the cancellation in writing.
8. After the first 14 days
After the 14-day cancellation period, fees already paid for the current monthly or three-month block are non-refundable, unless the law requires otherwise.
If a parent chooses not to continue, the student may continue using the service until the current paid block ends.
Access to live lessons, recordings, resources and the learning platform ends when the paid block ends.
There is no obligation to purchase another block.
9. Use of lessons and materials
Syllara Academy's lessons, recordings, notes, worksheets, homework, assessments and other materials are for the enrolled student's personal educational use only.
Parents and students must not:
- share platform login details;
- share lesson or Zoom access details;
- allow another person to use the student's access;
- record or screen-record lessons without permission;
- download, copy or redistribute recordings where this is not expressly permitted;
- copy, distribute or sell Syllara materials;
- use our materials commercially; or
- attempt to bypass access or security controls.
Serious or deliberate misuse may result in immediate suspension or termination of access.
Where a plan is terminated because of a serious or deliberate breach, no refund will normally be provided for the unused part of the current block, subject to the customer's statutory rights.
10. Student behaviour
Students are expected to behave appropriately during lessons.
For minor issues, we would normally contact the parent or guardian and give the student an opportunity to correct the problem.
We may suspend or terminate access immediately for serious behaviour, including:
- abusive or threatening behaviour;
- serious or repeated deliberate disruption;
- inappropriate conduct;
- behaviour creating a safeguarding or safety concern; or
- serious misuse of Syllara's systems or content.
11. Lesson recordings
Live lessons may be recorded so enrolled students can rewatch them.
Recordings primarily capture the tutor and shared teaching content.
Student cameras, microphones and chat messages are not intended to appear in recordings. A student's first name may occasionally be spoken by the tutor.
12. Changes or cancelled lessons
Syllara Academy may occasionally make reasonable changes to lesson times, platforms or course arrangements for operational reasons.
Where possible, we will provide reasonable notice of material changes.
If Syllara Academy has to cancel a live lesson, we will make reasonable efforts to reschedule it.
If rescheduling is not reasonably possible, we may provide a suitable alternative or replacement lesson.
If we permanently cannot provide a paid service, we will provide an appropriate refund for the unused part.
13. Technology and events outside our control
Online tuition depends on internet connections and third-party technology.
We are not responsible for disruption caused by events outside our reasonable control, but we will take reasonable steps to minimise disruption where possible.
14. If something goes wrong
Please contact us if a lesson, resource or service is not provided as expected.
Nothing in these Terms limits the rights consumers have under UK law, including rights relating to services that are not provided with reasonable care and skill.
15. Liability
Syllara Academy does not guarantee a particular examination grade or academic result.
We are responsible for losses caused by our breach where the law makes us responsible.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms when reasonably necessary because of changes to our services, business arrangements or the law.
Where a material change affects an existing paid block, we will provide reasonable notice where possible.
17. Governing law
These Terms are governed by English law.
Nothing in these Terms removes any rights a consumer may have to bring proceedings in another part of the United Kingdom where applicable.
